It was not a sub-unit, it was a service-branch word repeating what the Branch column already says. Rifleman J.A. Sampaio was a member of 32 Battalion and was killed on 17 May 1991, during the internal troubles, whilst patrolling through a 'no-go' area in Thokoza township. He was 32 Battalion's first fatality suffered during their deployment to quell civil unrest in the townships.
