Research notes

25 Sep 2026, Unit2 service-branch sweep: the stored Secondary Unit "Air Force" was CLEARED. It was not a sub-unit, it was a service-branch word, and it CONTRADICTED this record's own Branch, "Army". Across the roll 787 records carried such a contradiction; judged against Corps and Regiment -- independent of both columns -- the evidence backed Branch 744 times and Unit2 not once. Branch is therefore kept and the contradicting word removed. Nothing is guessed: this man's branch of service is already recorded, and his sub-unit, if any, is simply not known.

"On 3 July the anti-tank squadron and its infantry element [from C Company of 203 Bn] moved to the vicinity of the former 25 Brigade positions and deployed there. They carried out training and mechanised co-operation drills until 10 July, while at the same time patrolling to dominate the area east of the minefield. The training programme was designed to double as a deception programme, with suitably planned movement and timings. On one such training sortie [i.e on 2 July 1988] the anti-tank squadron moved across open and drew heavy artillery fire. One man was killed by fragments." My iniigige simpatie met julle verlies.
