He was with 8 SAI stationed at Okalongo in the 52 area. He was killed with 4 or 5 other rifleman in early May 1980 (8th I think)in a hand grenade explosion in the base. I cannot recall the names of the other persons but I am pretty of Landman. The incident was quite traumatic as it happened only 5 weeks after we arrived in the operational area and we were still new at the serious business of war. Most of our company were still youngsters,19 years of age more or less and this was a rude awakening of how easy a life can be lost. After all these years this incident is still so clear in my mind and I just wonder what the families of these young men still remember of them and what they could have become if a stupid incident like this did not take them from us. jeff roux
Wimpie Landman was my brother. He died 14 May 1980. If you have any information of the exact events of his death, i will realy appreciate the info. After all these years, i am still trying to get closure.
