25 Sep 2026, Unit2 service-branch sweep: the stored Secondary Unit "Army" was CLEARED. It was not a sub-unit, it was a service-branch word, and it CONTRADICTED this record's own Branch, "Air Force". Across the roll 787 records carried such a contradiction; judged against Corps and Regiment -- independent of both columns -- the evidence backed Branch 744 times and Unit2 not once. Branch is therefore kept and the contradicting word removed. Nothing is guessed: this man's branch of service is already recorded, and his sub-unit, if any, is simply not known.

Sgt Lamprecht was killed at Oshakati during Operation Protea. He was the flight engineer of a Puma helicopter which crashed whilst bringing in casualties at night. It is said that he was disorientated and guided the pilot incorrectly, thus the tail rotor caught in a barb-wire fence. Lieutenant (Doctor) CG Bartie, also died in this accident. Operation Daisy followed Operation Protea, and it was during Daisy that this tragedy occured.
29 Sep 1981: Two helicopter crewmen from 19 Squadron and four members of the SADF including a Medical Doctor were Killed in Action during Operation Protea when Aerospatiale SA330L Puma, Serial No.174 crashed at Oshakati while bringing in casualties at night. It is suspected that the Pilot, Major Johannes Jacobus Vogel got disorientated in a brown-out situation causing the tail rotor to connect with a barb-wire fence. Sole survivor of this incident was Major Johannes Jacobus Vogel from 19 Sqn (Pilot & Aircraft Commander). As far as it is known, he never flew again.
