"At Ogongo Agricultural College in Ovamboland, a labourer went down into a sewage pit to clean it. His supervisor, Mr. Brown heard him fall into the water and climbed down to help him. Three Medical Service National Servicemen were in the area and tried to save them. None of them returned as all were overcome by fumes. The three, Ptes FJ Smith, JC Jooste and B van D van Papendorp were awarded Honoris Crux medals"

25 Sep 2026, Unit2 service-branch sweep: the stored Secondary Unit "Army" was CLEARED. It was not a sub-unit, it was a service-branch word, and it CONTRADICTED this record's own Branch, "Medical Health". Across the roll 787 records carried such a contradiction; judged against Corps and Regiment -- independent of both columns -- the evidence backed Branch 744 times and Unit2 not once. JC was an OPS Medic, stationed at Ogongo base. He and van Papendorp tried to rescue civilian workers who succumbed to methane gas in an underground tunnel. Both died in the attempt.
