Research notes

Col (rt) Graham du Toit Last Post 26 Jul 2024: 78321718BG Corporal Rory Clyde Joliffe, Jozini Military Base, killed when their military vehicle overturned near Jozini, age 19. ROH surname is Jolliffe. Unit was 11th Regt. — corrected to Jozini Military Base (regiment already Jozini). ROH cause is water tanker left the road and rolled down a mountainside in Northern Natal (not overwritten). Same water-tanker rollover near Jozini as Jolliffe R.C. PN 30885 and Matenjwa S. PN 31677.
25 Sep 2026, Unit2 service-branch sweep: the stored Secondary Unit "Army" was CLEARED as a duplicate. It was not a sub-unit, it was a service-branch word repeating what the Branch column already says. Secondary Unit is for sub-units -- a company, a squadron, a commando -- and this record's branch of service is unchanged at "Army".

I'm not sure that the initials are correct for this entry, I was a good friend of Rory Clyde Jolliffe, a corporal who was killed in a military vehicle accident near Jozini on 26 July 1981. I can find no other reference to a Jolliffe in this time frame. He was apparently in a water tanker that left the road and went down a mountainside, as far as I can remember.
