25 Sep 2026, Unit2 service-branch sweep: the stored Secondary Unit "Air Force" was CLEARED. It was not a sub-unit, it was a service-branch word, and it CONTRADICTED this record's own Branch, "Army". Across the roll 787 records carried such a contradiction; judged against Corps and Regiment -- independent of both columns -- the evidence backed Branch 744 times and Unit2 not once. Branch is therefore kept and the contradicting word removed. Nothing is guessed: this man's branch of service is already recorded, and his sub-unit, if any, is simply not known.
Col (rt) Graham du Toit Last Post 25 Sep 2026: "80670391CK Rifleman Frederick Hikab from the South African Cape Corps, attached to Sector 30 Headquarters SWATF. He was 22." Service number, rank, date and age agree exactly.
- A SECOND MAN DIED IN THE SAME VEHICLE, and this record gave no sign of it. Graham: "One member from the Cape Corps attached to Sector 30 Headquarters SWATF and one member from 913 Battalion SWATF were killed when their Buffel Troop Carrier overturned during a patrol in the Etosha Game Reserve." The other man is Rifleman Otavi Kavihuha, created today as PersonNumber 49834.
- UNIT FLAGGED, NOT CHANGED: this record gives his unit as "Sector 3"; Graham gives "Sector 30 Headquarters". The roll carries separate entities for Sector 3 and Sector 30, and also for Sector 1, 2 and 5, each holding a handful of people. Whether the single-digit sectors are real or truncations of the two-digit SWATF sector numbering is an open question affecting more records than this one, so nothing is changed here.
25 Sep 2026, SWATF sector numbering: this record's sector was corrected from "Sector 3" to "Sector 30". The SADF and SWATF numbered their sectors in South West Africa in tens -- 10 (Owambo and Kaokoland, headquarters Oshakati), 20 (Kavango and Western Caprivi, headquarters Rundu), 30 (headquarters Otjiwarongo), 40, 50 and 70. There was never a Sector 1, 2, 3 or 5, so the stored value was a truncation. The correction does not rest on that: Col (rt) Graham du Toit's Last Post of 25 September 2026 gives his unit as Sector 30 Headquarters SWATF, and he died in the Etosha Game Reserve, in Sector 30's ground.
