As far as I can recall Martin was killed at Pomfret in the Northern Cape - 32Bn's base during Parachute Training. He was a keen photographer and was taking a video of a Dakota as it was taking of from the runway. He was standing at the end of the runway and the tail wheel of the Dakota hit him on take-off. He was killed instantly.

I was at school with Martin and we did our Junior Leaders training at the Infantery School in 1983. He was a good friend and we all miss you. Martin was a member of 32Bn and is buried at Pomfret in the Northern Cape. The previous goverment may have deserted 32Bn but we remember you and your comrades.

I served with maj Martin Geldenhuys in 32Bn. I was also at his funeral and his dedication party afterwards. It was quite an affair. he is sourly missed.

I was at Infantry School with Martin in 1983, both coming from 1SAI. We were in the same company, he was in Alpha Platoon 5. A good soldier and a great man!
