My name is peter crowder and I think George Steenkamp was my great grand father.He always spoke about the boer war and around 1952 was living with his daughter Marian in Johannesburg.One day when I arrived at their home,he became very agitated and told me to saddle his horse because he could hear gun fire in the distance which meant the English were coming.He told me to close the gates so the goats don't go out and he started to sweat profusely,he was about 80 at the time.Could not speak English just Afrikaans.There were no goats.His daughter came out and said the war was over.Peter Crowder peter crowder
