Field Artillery
Status
Permanent Force (Regular)
The South African Permanent Force, created 1913, included the South African Field Artillery (SAFA) and South African Permanent Garrison Artillery (SAPGA) from the outset -- unlike most infantry regiments of the same era (which were Active Citizen Force), artillery began as a Regular/Permanent Force arm. Artillery Formation HQ reorganised April 1999 to include both regular regiments (4 Arty Regt, etc.) and reserve regiments.

Eldest son of William and Margaret Wighton, of 3, Grove Park St., New City Rd., Glasgow, Scotland. Native of Scone, Perth, Scotland.
