He served with the Durban Light Infantry in GSWA 1914- 1915; served with the 4th Regiment in France; WIA at Bernafay wood 10/7/1916; evacuated to England; died of his wounds in military hospital, London, England. Buried/commemorated: Peterhead Old Churchyard, Aberdeenshire, Scotland.
