John Robert Rodgers, known always as Jack, was my Great Uncle. He and my Grandfather thought it would be a great adventure to volunteer to fight for King and Country in South Africa. They enlisted together but did not come home together. Jack is buried in Strekstrom. My Granddad came home a much changed man, if physically unharmed.
