Found at Map Reference 57c.M.22.b.52 or GPS or 50.0661, 2.7904. This is South East of the present day village of Le Sars. One can assume that he died in the fighting of October 1916. Collective grave B. 2-9. The remains were found intermingled in one shell hole; it was impossible to separate the individual bodies. The mixed remains were buried in two coffins and eight grave spaces allowed for them. His means of identification were: South African kilts, jackets, cap badges, badges and boots.
