Student at Cape Town, but left school to serve in G.S.W.A. campaign with the Cape Town Highlanders, in which he was a corporal. Afterwards he went to England and trained with the Inns of Court O.T.C. for a commission. Stain glass window memorial in George St. Mark's Cathedral Church.
