5935 Pte. G. Melbourne, 3rd Battalion Grenadier Guards, was killed in action at the battle of Belmont 23 November 1899. He is buried at the West End Garden of Remembrance in Kimberley but his grave has no individual marker. He was awarded the Queen's South Africa Medal with clasp Belmont, having already been awarded the Queen's Sudan Medal and Khedive's Sudan Medal with clasp Khartoum for the 1898 campaign there.
