LG Sup 26 July 1917 - "For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. At an extremely critical moment, when the enemy had broken through on our flanks and were surrounding our line, he rallied the infantry and reorganised the line with such success that the enemy were repulsed on all sides and finally cut off in their attempt to retreat. His gallantry and initiative saved a very dangerous situation"
