South African Irish, formed 1 December 1914. Active Citizen Force infantry regiment; reformed for WWII (1st SA Irish suffered severe losses at Sidi Rezegh, Nov 1941); converted to artillery (22 Field Regiment) 1946-1959, reconverted to reserve infantry 1960. Renamed Andrew Mlangeni Regiment 2019.
