DORLINDA BESSIE HYLAND, Nursing Sister of 7 Queen Street, (& later 17 Belle Vue Terrace) Lancaster, UK. who lost her life Thursday, 13/02/1902 Aged 31, at Bloemfontein, South Africa. Born 1871. Daughter of Isabella Wright, step-daughter of George Wright, (Joiner & Builder). Sister of George C. Hyland, & Harold I.Wright, Mary H.Wright,& Margaret C. Wright. Trinity Church, Lancaster,UK Memorial Window & Plaque Dedicated to Dorlinda Bessie Hyland, who was a Nurse during the plague in India 1898-9, and belonged to the Army Nursing Service Reserve during the South African War 1900-2. Her ancestors [the family Jackson] were among the founders of the Trinity Chapel in Lancaster. Lancaster Military Heritage Group arranged a Re-dedication on 14/12/2004 at Trinity Church, Lancaster where Dorlinda also has a page dedicated to her memory in the Book of Honour.
