LG 27 July 1916 - "For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. Though severely wounded he continued to advance, himself bayonetting three of the enemy. He subsequently accompanied Lieut. Herd to search for missing bombers, and finally fainted when near our lines and had to be carried in."
