Beaton of 231 Avondale Rd., Durban.) 2387 Private Royal Durban Light Infantry Born Durban 4/4/1923; a seaman (stoker) on a whaler by trade; served with the 2nd Battalion RDLI in North Africa; captured at Tobruk 20/6/1942; escaped from Camp #120, Italy 8/9/1943; captured by the Germans September 1944; died as a POW in hospital probably in Jan / Feb 1945.
