Son of Mr. Cecil Radford Lee, barrister, of the Middle Temple, and Mrs. Cecil Lee. Husband of Mrs. Alfreda Maria Salzmann (remarried), of Hotel Cecil, Newlands, Cape Province, South Africa. He was born in 1886 and educated at Wellington College, where he gained a scholarship, and at Woolwich. He obtained a commission in 1906, and later went with the 95th Battery to South Africa, where he was employed in survey work in the Transvaal for more than a year. On rejoining his battery he went to India. He exchanged into the 35th Brigade and came to England in 1913. In October, 1914, he went to Belgium, took part in the first battle of Ypres, and was Mentioned in Despatches. He was promoted Captain and awarded the Military Cross. He took part in the battles of Loos and Neuve Chapelle, and in May, 1915, was wounded at Festubert and sent home on sick leave. He returned to the front in command of a battery. He was wounded on September 15, and died on September 27. He married in October, 1912, Alfreda, step-daughter of Christian Botha, M.L.A., of Bloemfontein, and leaves a daughter.
