A South African Ace he had 3 Destroyed / 1 Probably Destroyed / 1 Damaged. Remembered on Diocesan College Roll of Honour. He attended Diocesan College 1922-32.

In July 1943 he was killed in a flying accident in England whilst undergoing special trainng. He was buried in the Brookwood Military Cemetery England.

LG 23 April 1943 pg. 1855 - "This officer completed much operational flying in the Western Desert, displaying fine leadership and great courage throughout. On one occasion when 14 Stukas were shot down without loss to the Squadron, Major le Mesurier, flew with great distinction. His skilful leadership contributed materially to the success achieved. This officer has destroyed one enemy aircraft and probably destroyed several others."
