4775 Pte. H. Stewart, 2nd Battalion Gordon Highlanders, died at Ladysmith 27 October 1899 of wounds received at the battle of Elandslaagte six days earlier. He is buried at Ladysmith Town Cemetery but his grave has no individual marker. He was awarded the Queen's South Africa Medal with clasp Elandslaagte.
