Natal colonial mounted regiment. Gillings records Maj Duncan Mackenzie’s Natal Carbineers riding with Capt H. Bottomley’s Imperial Light Horse in Maj H. de la P. Gough’s composite mounted infantry into Ladysmith just before sunset on 28 February 1900, ending the 118-day siege (sections mixed so neither unit alone could claim first entry).
