She was on route from ALEXANDRIA & ADEN for TABLE BAY & LAGOS carrying a cargo of ballast of bagged salt when she was torpedoed and sunk by gunfire from U-506. 12 crew lost from a total of 46.

Hit by Flak over the target, shot down by a night-fighter Fw Fritz Shellwat 5./NJG1 and crashed in a field near the hamlets of Kersbeek and Miskom (Brabant), 11 km NNE of Tienen, Belgium. Those killed in the crash are buried in Kersbeek-Miskom Churchyard. Sgt B. H. Glasse made a PoW. Sgt B. H. Glasse was interned in Camps 8B/344, PoW No.27141. Died 9 March 45 on The Forced March. No known grave.

31041Second Lieutenant Gerrit Keulder, 71412837PE, 32 (Buffalo) Battalion (South West African Territory Force), aged 21. Killed in action, whilst on patrol in Henombe area of Southern Angola. At Henombe, approximately 200 cattle were found and driven towards the SWA border, the idea being to take these cattle to the cattle farm at Omauni. A small PLAN force led by Denga Ndaitwah (recently retired Chief of the Namibian Defence Force) spotted the 32 Battalion patrol and hastily laid an ambush south of Henombe. In the short firefight, Lieutenant Keulder was mortally wounded and the PLAN force immediately withdrew. His body was carried out of the contact area before being airlifted out back to SWA. The 32 Battalion Patrol abandoned the cattle and returned to South West Africa on foot.

Died of wounds, received when unit walked into an ambush in South West Angola. The Fapla forces had laid out a perfect killing acre, marked with rocks in the trees. They had just come out of the TB and were about to start sweeping the road for landmines. On the road was the five man sweeping team, two soldiers out ahead walking recce, two soldiers walking protection on the left and two soldiers walking protection on the right. They were just setting off when there was a loud explosion. From the right hand side of the road masses of small arms fire as well as RPG, mortar and rifle grenades were fired at them.
