Hartley's squadron met the full force of enemy defences at Oran, and his plane was seen to crash near the target. American troops found the wreckage, and the crew were buried with full military honours at Arzen Bay, 15 miles east of Oran, on November 11th, 1942.

- 1941 22266 — Sergeant Ernest Johnston Sargent, 904435, 78 Squadron (Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve), aged 27. Killed in action, crashed Neu Ruppin, 40 miles West of Berlin, Whitley Z9151. Took off 2227 7 Nov 1941 from Croft. Abandoned by the crew over the target. All other crew members became POW.

- 1942 3823 — Private Thomas Charles Christopher, 117853, L. of C. Postal Unit (South African Army Postal Corps (Corps)). Died of malaria, at No. 5 General Hospital.

- 1942 8847 — Sub-Lieutenant John Edward Grogan, 66643, H.M.S. Titania (South African Navy (Corps)), aged 23. Killed by human torpedo (Chariot).

- 1942 9356 — Lieutenant (A) John Vernon "Jock" Hartley, H.M.S. Furious (Royal Navy), aged 26. Killed in action, at Oran. Lieut. Hartley's squadron met the full force of enemy defences at Oran, and his plane was seen to crash near the target. American troops found the wreckage, and the crew were buried with full military honours at Arzen Bay, 15 miles east of Oran, on November 11th, 1942.

- 1943 3305 — Lieutenant Donald James Campbell, 206104V, 4 Squadron, aged 21. Killed in action, Supermarine Spitfire Mk VC #AB536, hit by flak crash landed.

- 1943 13450 — Private George Levendal, M/10660, Indian and Malay Corps (Corps). Died on active service.

- 1943 21140 — Private Joel Rashilumela, N/8548, South African Native Labour Corps (Corps). Died of pulmonary tuberculosis.

- 1943 21834 — Air Sergeant Arthur Lawrence Rosenberg, 240326, South African Air Force (Corps), aged 59. Died of coronary thrombosis.

- 1943 23281 — Driver Njovu Sizitani, NRA/17111, 6th Bn. (Northern Rhodesia Regiment). Died on active service.

- 1944 2169 — Lieutenant Christian Gresse Boshoff, 328548V, 94 (R.A.F.) Squadron, aged 19. Killed in action.

- 1944 2844 — Private Zane Brown, 233077V, Royal Natal Carbineers, aged 19. Died of wounds, shell wound left shoulder and left upper chest. He was wounded on 10 October during a counter-attack on the RNC positions on Mount Stanco, Italy, by elements of the 16th SS Division. After being hospitalised, he appeared to be on the mend but relapsed on the 6 November and died 2 days later.

- 1944 6666 — Lieutenant Walter Hugh England, 92327V, South African Armoured Corps (Corps), aged 25. Killed in action, Walcheren landings, Operation Infatuate.

- 1944 8661 — Air Mechanic Charles George Green, 58438, 40 Squadron, aged 53. Died of multiple amoebic abscesses.

- 1944 9438 — Lance Corporal Barend Henri Hattingh, 35320V, Pretoria Regiment, aged 21. Died of injuries, fractured left tibia and fibula, received in battle accident, when his scout car overturned on the 7 November, 4 miles south of Castiglione, Italy.

- 1945 2213 — Gunner Christoffel Johannes Frans Botha, 114530, 1 Field Regiment (South African Artillery (Corps)), aged 50. Died of pulmonary tuberculosis.

- 1945 5284 — Private Petrus Jacobus De Jager, 331555, National Reserve Volunteer, aged 56. Died of congestive cardiac failure.

- 1945 9672 — Private Joseph P Hendricks, C/287273, Cape Corps, aged 22. Died on active service.
