Police Good Service Medal

South Africa · instituted 1923 · discontinued 1963

South African Police long-service medal that doubled as an award for gallantry. Until 1952 incorporated into the British honours system, thereafter part of the new South African honours system. No dedicated Wikipedia article exists; design/type varied across its 1923-1963 life (referred to informally as 1st/2nd/3rd type, with "Politie Dienst"/"Poliesie Diens" reverse wording reflecting the era).

Qualifying criteria: Policemen of non-commissioned rank with not less than 18 years' service and irreproachable character, or service of a particularly gallant or distinguished character.
