De Brug Wall of Remembrance

Wall of Remembrance at the SANDF Mobilisation Centre, De Brug, Bloemfontein, commemorating SANDF soldiers and other military personnel who died while on UN peacekeeping deployment. Unveiled 29 May 2018 (International Day of UN Peacekeepers) with 55 names, the earliest Sgt T.L.R. Bailie (d. 3 Sep 2003, DRC). Per SANDF spokesman Col Louis Kirstein at the unveiling, the wall was purely for UN-deployment deaths and explicitly excluded the 2013 Battle of Bangui (CAR) and 1998 Operation Boleas (Lesotho) dead, though he noted other sections might be added in future. Has grown since, reportedly approaching/exceeding 100 names by 2025 including further DRC (MONUSCO/SAMIDRC) losses.
