Born Memphis, Tennessee, United States of America. A barman. Served as Trooper (#667) with Bethune's Mounted Infantry in the ABW 1899-1902; transferred to the Transvaal Constabulary; served with the Natal Police in the Bambatha Rebellion of 1906. WIA at Mersa Matruh 23/1/1916. The first Memphian to die in the Great War
