"01 Oct 1979: 77284511BG Rifleman Mark Anthony Ashington from Army Headquarters, South African Infantry Corps Died in Private Vehicle Accident, at Ladysmith. He was off duty. He was 18. Technical Service Corps ... while travelling as a passenger. He was on his way home to Howick on a weekend pass - at the time of the accident - (TDK) TD Veterane Vereniging (Tiffies) NPC FB post (All posts Credit Col (rt) Graham du Toit)."
