Bronze Cross of Rhodesia (BCR)

The Bronze Cross of Rhodesia, post-nominal letters BCR, was instituted by Presidential Warrant in 1970 (first awards the same year; last in June 1980) for gallantry by members of the Rhodesian Army, Air Force, Armoured Car Regiment and Guard Force. It ranked below the Silver Cross of Rhodesia. The medal is a bronze Maltese cross with a lion’s head on a white enamelled roundel. The ribbon colour differed by service (red Army, purple Air Force, brown Guard Force), each with three narrow white stripes. 131 were awarded, seven posthumously; one bar was awarded. Recipients are entitled to the post-nominal BCR.
