Border Horse enrollment/discharge ledger (WO127-style nominal roll scan on angloboerwar.com's Border Horse unit page, 'Nominal roll images' tab, Roll 1). Raised in the Eastern Cape in February 1900 under Colonel Crewe; part of Brabant's Colonial Division (relief of Wepener, Brandwater Basin, later Cape Colony). Stirling, J. (1907), The Colonials in South Africa 1899-1902, as reproduced on the same unit page. Not previously on the ROH; Border Horse did not exist as a unit in this database. The site's separate 57-page WO100/236 QSA medal-roll PDF for this corps is a clasp entitlement roll (resignations/transfers in Remarks), not itself a casualty source. Recorded in the roll as died of wounds on 6.9.00. Stirling: at Doornhoek on 26 August 1900 the corps was heavily engaged with Major M. W. Robertson severely wounded and about 20 other casualties -- this death of wounds 11 days later may belong to that action, but the roll does not itself name Doornhoek, so the link is noted not asserted.
