Rukara , Martin Rudo District Security Assistant Internal Affairs killed in action when his Puma vehicle was hit by 9 RPG-7 rockets down south of Chiredzi October 1979. Martin Rudo Rukara was attached to the DCs Office at Bikita but spent DSA Cpl much of his time at Ground Coverage Base in Matsai TTL south of Bikita as the Senior Intaf member there and was a good loyal and courageous man. When the Chiredzi DC asked for temporary reinforcements in October 1979 the Bikita DC sent Rukara. Most DCs when asked for reinforcements sent their worst members to get them out of the way for a while. Not so DC Parkinson - he said he didn’t want the Bikita District held in low esteem by other areas so he sent the best. There were not many survivors.
