Research notes

S. Oosthuizen (his girlfriend at the time), ROH story 22 Feb 2016: describes his death as a landmine strike while on patrol -- differs from the existing record's cause (shrapnel wounds when their TB was attacked with mortars and RPG-7s). Not merged; flagged as a conflict between a close personal contact's memory and the recorded circumstance, needing a documentary source to resolve either way.
25 Sep 2026, Unit2 service-branch sweep: the stored Secondary Unit "Army" was CLEARED as a duplicate. It was not a sub-unit, it was a service-branch word repeating what the Branch column already says. Secondary Unit is for sub-units -- a company, a squadron, a commando -- and this record's branch of service is unchanged at "Army".

Andre was killed by a landmine whilst on patrol. I will never forget him. He was my boyfriend at the time. I think of him still. He was such a gentle boy/man. We were heartbroken and will never forget him.
