Brother of Jennie Auslan, of 21 Braxfield Road, Marchmount, Lanark, Scotland. A Delville Wood and Longueval survivor. Born in 1888 in Melbourne, Australia, and attested for service at Potchefstroom near Johannesburg, on the 21st of January, 1916, at the age of 28. Previously worked as a fitter. Service file indicates once deprived 5 days pay "for being unshaven past 9.00am" and had later been caught "drunk".
